Here are the most common causes of fires and smoke damage at homes and businesses:· Lint buildup in dryers· Electrical fires (faulty/aged wiring, overloaded electrical outlets)· Kitchen grease fires (and stove burners accidentally left “on”)· Accidental igniting of flammables, such as gasoline, propane, lighter fluid and solvents

What do you do after a fire?

After a blaze, there is so much to do, and time is critical. We will work fast to cover any openings to protect against the elements and unauthorized entry. We will also perform extensive debris removal and repairs. Smoke causes its own widespread destruction. Much of that is preventable, but only if we take the right actions in the first few hours. You’re also likely to need water extraction and related services to limit mold and other water damage.

Tip:

There’s only a one-to-two day window to head off further destruction. We advise you to take the time, however, and make sure the contractor you hire is experienced and has all the necessary qualifications. They must be properly licensed and insured. Otherwise, you could end up with unnecessary deterioration, shoddy work, and even a workman’s injury lawsuit.

First Steps

  1. Recovery begins with our expert’s evaluation and planning. They will create a recovery plan specific to your home or place of business and the fire damage inflicted. That plan will include details of all losses, materials and workmanship standards, and a schedule of all mitigation and remediation steps.
  2. Secure the Building. The first priority is the safety of our workers and the building’s contents. Accomplishing that may involve structural reinforcements, roof tarp overs, and board-ups for destroyed windows, doors, and walls.
  3. Initial Cleaning. Once the building is safe and secure, our crews can begin debris removal along with initial cleaning and repairs.
